Application install and OS reinstall are different

Understand which operation preserves the operating system and which one erases the server.

Protect your data firstKeep a current off-server backup before reinstalling, updating, changing firewall rules, or running an application installer.

Application install

An approved application installer runs on the current compatible operating system. It must not silently rebuild the VPS. Existing services can still conflict with ports, packages, or databases, so take a backup first and review the installation plan.

OS reinstall

An OS reinstall replaces the server operating system and permanently erases data on the VPS disk. The panel requires a current service match and strong confirmation before submitting it.

Safe decision

  • Choose Install application for a compatible reviewed installer on the current OS.
  • Choose Reinstall OS only when you intend to start again from a clean server.
  • Back up application data, databases, configuration, keys, and licenses before either operation.
  • Confirm that the backup can be restored somewhere other than the VPS being changed.
